Morning

¶ Arrivés: We’re here. Here in Santa Monica, that is; far from the Navy Terrace, from which I took the snap of the Bethesda Fountain the other day. Pictures to follow, probably much later today, if and when I can turn on the camera. Everything was “much later,” yesterday, and it will take a while to catch up.

Oremus…

Morning, cont’d

§ Arrivés. The good thing, now the ordeal is over, is that Kathleen is giving me top marks for traveling nice. She went so far as to say that I’d been a pleasure to travel with — but I won’t hold her to that, because the busy day had left her punch-drunk.

Nature of ordeal: take-off, scheduled for 4:55, occurred at 10:30. That’s right, after a delay of five and a half hours — thus exactly doubling the flying time to California. We landed at a deserted LAX at 3:45 EST, and reached the Casa del Mar, in Santa Monica, at about 2:15 PST.

And aside from some minimal moaning out of me during a spot of turbulence over the Mississippi, I never complained about a thing. True, we spent the wait in the Admiral’s Club, not on the runway, but still.  Even I’m amazed! Blogging has certainly taken the starch out of me!

On second thought, no pictures today. Not until we get back home. Guess what I forgot to pack. (Not the camera, thank heaven!)
